First Adult Swim Festival debuts with BAI Live

Giant Rick and Morty blowups…a CGI roller coaster ride known as the Meathead Dome…and T-Pain performing a set from Freaknick: the Musical backed up by a 37-piece live orchestra…

It can only mean one thing.

The inaugural Adult Swim Festival debuted with a bang this month at The Row, right in the heart of DTLA’s arts district. The festival boasted three solid evenings of music and comedy line-ups with the likes of Hannibal Burress, along with a smorgasbord of photo-ops, projected animations and an immersive VR experience, Dream Corp: The Ride, that had fans lining up for 2 hours to try.

BAI Live, the live-event division of Bel Air Internet, delivered their Pop Up Internet and Managed Wi-Fi to the open-air venue to ensure that the many event components would run smoothly, including:

Back-of-House Systems and Credit Card Transactions.

Like many of our event clients, Adult Swim chose to automate their transactions through a cloud-based system. Ticketing for admissions and credit card transactions at bars, food, vendor and merchandise booths were all powered by our Pop-Up Internet creating a more streamlined and secure experience for guests. We even managed to get our network out to the parking lot so that guests could easily pay for parking via credit card on a secure network.

Live-Streaming. Our Pop-Up Internet was used to live-stream video footage onto screens at the two stages throughout the course of the weekend.

Virtual Reality Immersive Experience. We were able to supply a private network to power the custom Virtual Reality experience they had at the event, based on the popular Adult Swim show Dream Corps. Not only was the Virtual Reality ride glitch-free thanks to our broadband, but it was a huge draw for the event, delivering an experience that Uproxx called, “every bit as trippy as the acid-washed visuals from the show.”

Staff Communication. With cell and radio coverage spotty at events with large attendance, our Pop-Up Internet fueled staff communication so there were no glitches at key moments.

Missed out on it this year? Never fear – Adult Swim has already announced that they’re scaling the event to be even bigger for next year. Stay tuned!
